Arguably the best way of becoming a good speller is to read a lot!  In general, those individuals who read widely are usually good spellers.

Some of the most important spelling articles and resources include:

  • Scots pupils struggling to master basic skills in 3 Rs
  • More pupils to get Three Rs help
  • Pupils 'struggling' with spelling
  • Playing politics with the 3Rs
  • EasyReadSystem 'Find out why bright children so often struggle to read and spell'
KidsSpell - free spelling games and spelling lists.
    Personal Best: Adult Spelling Program
Spellzone: online interactive course in English spelling for older students - teenagers to adults.
The Spelling Society: its main aim is  raising awareness of the problems caused by the irregularity of English spelling and to promote remedies to improve literacy, including spelling reform. The Spelling Society publishes leaflets.
  • VocabularySpellingCity - an award-winning vocabulary and spelling website
